Practice and Personal Background

I was born in Texarkana, Texas and grew up thirty miles away in Foreman, Arkansas, population 1200 (at the time). Growing up in such a small town as one of four children of a teacher and a welder provided me with one of the things that I believe makes me an effective trial lawyer – the ability to connect with people of all ages and from all walks of life. After graduating from Ashdown High School as Salutatorian, I attended Texas A&M University from 1995 to 1988 where I graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Economics. Thereafter, I attended the University of Texas School of Law from 1998 to 2001 where I graduated as a member of the Order of Barristers. That same year, I, along with my other teammates, won the Tournament of Champions national mock trial competition in Syracuse, New York. As a result, the University of Texas lit its prestigious tower in our honor. After graduating, I joined Thompson Coe’s Dallas office in 2001 where I worked for five years defending personal injury claims. At that time, my work included claims involving wrongful death, medical malpractice, premises liability, product liability, and other intentional torts. In 2006, I got married to Ron Foley who works in the oil and gas industry. As a result, I transferred to Thompson Coe’s Houston office where I have worked ever since. Since 2006, I have continued to defend personal injury claims, including mass tort and high-risk personal injury clams, as well professional liability claims against lawyers, insurance agents, real estate agents and other professionals. While at Thompson Coe, I served many years on the firm’s Associates Committee and Diversity Committee. Additionally, I have served as the Professional Liability Vice Chair for the Houston Office and the firm’s Products Liability Chair. In 2022, I became the first African American attorney to serve on the firm’s five-partner Management Committee where I continue to serve today.
